And it is a house shaker when cranked too if that is what you are looking for - crank this baby up and you can rattle 3rd floor windows and floors - and it doesn't sound all that bad considering. I'm too afraid of blowing it. The Sub-12's adjustable feet can be used to eliminate cabinet rocking motions when the sub is positioned on hardwood or tiled floors. Best subwoofer I have owned. I am actually waiting for my new room to become available as that's where the new subwoofer will be placed and that won't be til mid-august so right now I'm still only orienting, but if it only requires gluing parts together I suppose it should be doable for me.
Most of us would rather hit it at 31 Hz compared to 63 Hz. If you put this in a room that's too big, response below the mid 30's will drop, making it sound like it has a huge peak around 40. Compact 8- or 10-inch subs simply can't plumb the depths the way a mighty 12-inch sub can. There are kit that you can put together with only glue and be mostly done in under 1 hour. For the price it is great.
However, I find that if I unplug the sub for a second or momentarily pop the fuse out then plug it back in, it starts working again. I quick accepted I would love to hit 115 db at 20 k Hz and cover the audio range. This is the sub's strongest point. For those that otherwise have silent subs, it may be something to try. Right now i have it hooked up for the first time to a yamaha system including a yamaha head unit. Depending on the source and sound, bass in the 80-120hz range can sound a little muffled or boomy, but if yoiu have relatively large front speakers or a smaller sub to handle this range, then you eliminate the only real flaw in this sub's sound. The sub-12 is a little long in the tooth having been introduced by Klipsch a couple of years ago, so maybe they have something newer and stronger in the pipeline. Deep bass below 60hz in this case is where this sub shines. I have ran the gamut from a 6 in.
